Taipei City Urban Planning Committee visits Zhuzihu Community Building:Combining local industry, community involvement and resources integration is the key to success
Deputy Mayor Chang Chin-Oh of Taipei City, together with members of the Urban Planning Committee, inspected Zhuzihu Community in Beitou’s Hutian Village on the morning of August 8th. During the trip, Director Lin Yu-i, of the Geotechnical Engineering Office presented the works of the combined effort between the Geotechnical Engineering Office and Hutian Village in promoting the “Alternative Urban Renewal” at the community building. There were exchanges of views and opinions during the presentation. Director Lin Yu-i of the Geotechnical Engineering Office remarked that Taipei City belongs to the urban planning area. Although 55% of the area is slope land, most of it comprises conservation areas, national parks and agricultural areas. In the past, with industrial and commercial development, people relocated from the hillside agricultural area, increasing the scope of uncultivated lands, and Zhuzihu community gradually declined. To improve the environment of the hillside agricultural community, the Geotechnical Engineering Office has selected 12 agricultural communities in the City that possess the humanities, industries and natural environmental characteristics to achieve overall improvement in individual phases; among the aforementioned communities, Zhuzihu Community of Beitou’s Hutian Village is a typical case of community building. The Geotechnical Engineering Office remarked that it will propel the development community building in the City’s 12 hillside agricultural areas each year by integrating local industries, humanities and ecological characteristics. Zhuzihu Community’s Calla Lilly garden resorts are successful examples. In the future, there will also be overall plans for other areas. By linking various aspects of community building, the environment of each hillside community will be improved, spurring local prosperity and development.
After the presentation, Deputy Mayor Chang and members of the Urban Planning Committee took a walk by the creek and inspected the ecosystem restoration project and how well it blends in with the local industry.
